The Growth Academy for the Middle East and North Africa workshop aims to provide a clear roadmap, sharing strategies essential for navigating the complexities of economic growth, productivity enhancement, and overcoming the middle-income trap.

The University of Chicago, the World Bank, and the Institute for Economic Development are partnering with the Economic Research Forum of Egypt to organize this workshop in Cairo, Egypt.

Structured around the key themes of the World Development Report 2024: The Middle-Income Trap, this three-day intensive workshop will focus on:

  • Concepts of creative destruction for middle-income economies
  • Challenges and opportunities for middle-income economies
  • Innovative approaches to boosting productivity

Participants to the workshop will include think tanks, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from the region, all dedicated to enhancing productivity and economic growth using the latest, most innovative tools.

The workshop will close with an on-site training on the Modelling Long-Term Growth in Developing Countries
