Engage

We partner with think tanks, researchers, and academia to spark new ideas in development, grow capacity, and leverage technology to equalize access to information. We convene stakeholders through events and learning workshops, and we are actively working to grow our list of institutional partners and build a network of contributing experts.

Given our global mandate, we operate out of regional hubs. The hub in Rome, Italy, is supported by the Government of Italy, in collaboration with the Bank of Italy and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF). It facilitates connections with think tanks in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The hub in Washington, D.C. facilitates partnerships with global institutions to engage with think tanks in Latin America and the Caribbean and the broader Western Hemisphere.

Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics 2024

The World Bank Group’s Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics—ABCDE—is a 35-year-old forum to stimulate an exchange of ideas between leaders in global policy discussions and researchers, policymakers, and development practitioners. The event has become a premier venue for cutting-edge insights on how to tackle the most pressing challenges of development. Beginning in 2024, ABCDE will be co-sponsored by a partner that rotates every two years. In 2024, the Center for Global Development will co-sponsor the event.
