Using Alternative Data to Assess Immediate Socio-Economic Impacts of Crises, Conflicts and Natural Disasters

This cutting-edge course will train participants to use alternative data sources to monitor the immediate socio-economic impacts of conflicts and natural disasters. Participants will engage in a learning journey that begins with a refresher on essential coding skills and progresses through the exploration of both open-source and proprietary data. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn to extract and interpret key trends in the wake of disaster scenarios, such as using nighttime lights for power outage analysis and social media data for insights into internet connectivity.

Streamline Survey Cycles with Survey Solutions

This course is designed to provide an overview of all relevant topics for using the Survey Solutions platform for design, including: implementing and managing surveys; designing a computer-assisted personal or telephone interviewing (CAPI/CATI) app and preparing the server; creating survey assignments; monitoring survey progress; and reacting to incoming interviews, among others. 

Enhancing FCV Operations with Geospatial ICT Tools

This self-paced course has been designed to introduce three types of geospatial ICT tools that can be utilized in an FCV setting: remote sensing, drones, and mobile phones. Each module contains an introductory video (or videos), interactive content, and a deeper dive into specific case studies.

Microdata Dissemination and Protection

This intermediate-level course offers foundational tools and methods for microdata anonymization, protection and dissemination. The course presents the use of international metadata standards and best practices for the documentation and cataloguing of microdata through hands-on training sessions and open-source software and tools. All software applications used in training are open-source software and freely downloadable.
